How much free time does a doctor have in college?

I am in high school as of right now and there is a very good chance I will play college basketball, I have already received many scholarships to schools because of my athletic ability. To cut to the chase, my question is would it be possible for me to play hoops and study to become a doctor at the same time.

There is no such thing as a pre-med major. As an undergraduate, you major in anything you want, as long as you meet the requirements for medical school. Pre-med is just a set of classes you take to make sure that you are able to apply to medical school.

As an undergrad, you should be able to have enough time to do a sport and do well in your classes. When you go to medical school (after getting your undergraduate degree), that's when you won't have much time for outside activities.

Make sure you get real world experience as an undergrad (shadow doctors, volunteer at hospitals, do internships). Experience is what will set you apart from other med school applicants. And keep your grades up. Aim for a 3.5 or higher.

You could have enough time depending on when you have your classes. If you plan to go only two or three days you might have time. Medical school is after the first four years so there is time after that.

Most pre-med majors are not too hard. It is med school that takes a lot of studying.
